KOCHI: Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran has cautioned artistes to stay away from mud-slinging campaign, as they hold a special place in the hearts of the people. In his address at the inauguration of the Artistes of Cinema and Television Media Cooperative Society here on Tuesday, the Minister said the government would like to witness unity among the Malayalam film fraternity. Referring to the allegations raised by actor Thilakan that a ‘super star’ was denying him work in the industry, Mr. Sudhakaran said he had already told Mr. Thilakan that nobody could refuse him opportunities. Appropriate forumsEvery artiste had the right to work here, he said. Pointing out that an artiste should not defame another artiste especially in the public domain, the Minister said those who had complaints against others should raise it at the appropriate forums. Artistes should accept each other and stay away from such smear campaign, he said. Chairman of the society K.B. Ganesh Kumar, who delivered the presidential address, said the society would take the lead in setting up a comprehensive housing project for artistes. Mr. Sudhakaran felicitated actors Mammootty and Mohanlal on the occasion. Actors Innocent, Maniyanpillai Raju, Jagadeesh, and B. Unnikrishnan, general secretary of Film Employees Federation of Kerala, spoke.
