Indian Priests Congress

Over 1,000 priests from religious congregations attend it



DELIBERATION: Sri Sri Ravishankar of the Art of Living, addressed the gathering at Velankanni.

VELANKANNI: The curtain of the Indian Priests Congress was raised here on Tuesday as a culmination of the worldwide celebrations following the ordaining of the year 2010 as the year of Priests by Pope Benedict XVI.

Over 1,000 priests from the religious congregations of all three ritual churches of Latin, Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malakhara arrived here for the Congress.

Cardinal Claudio Hummes, Priest, Congregation for Clergy, Vatican, was present as the chief guest and would delegate for the Pope at the Congress.

Sri Sri Ravishankar, of the Art of Living, addressed the gathering.

Agatha Sanghma, Union Minister of State for Rural Development, is scheduled to preside over the forenoon session of the Congress on Wednesday.
