Bangalore: A concert of vocalist M. Balamuralikrishna will be held at MLR Convention Centre, Brigade Millennium, J.P. Nagar 7th Phase, on Saturday at 7 p.m. Bangalore-based Live Tree Entertainment is organising the concert. Mr. Balamuralikrishna was the first artiste to be presented the All India Radio’s “Top Grade” for seven different performance areas. A Padma Vibhushan awardee, 79-year-old Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna is one of the few musicians to have bagged national awards for classical music, music direction in films and film playback singing. Says the maestro: “I enjoy every branch of music – vocal and instrumental, composing lyrics and being a vaggeyakara (fitting them into talas). Despite all the controversies, there has been an overwhelming response from connoisseurs for my three-and-four-note ragas.” Mr. Balamuralikrishna has performed across the globe and has collaborated with stalwart Hindustani musicians such as Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Kishori Amonkar in vocal jugalbandhis. Tickets are available online. Visit www.ticketeasy.in or call 9036009705, for details and tickets.
