This Day That Age
A fabulous pink diamond which has caused excitement among dealers in Britain, the U. S. and Europe will be sold by auction at Sothebys in London on March 17. Weighing 34.64 carats, it is considered priceless because no rare gem of its size or colour has ever appeared on the market before. Diamond experts say it is the only pink diamond in existence and cautiously estimate its value at 70.000 sterling. Little is known of the stone’s history but it is believed to have come from the famous Golconda mine in India and may have been part of a collection of an Indian Maharaja.
