Telugu Desam leader slams Congress

Correspondent

MAHABUBNAGAR: Former Lok Sabha member from Mahabubnagar and TDP leader A.P. Jitender Reddy said that the Congress party had hoodwinked the people of Telangana region by constituting Srikrishna committee.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the Congress was playing with lives of Telangana people. He questioned the validity of the new committee. “Was it approved by the UPA government or okayed by the Union Cabinet?” he asked. He said the Srikrishna committee was only a “home committee or internal committee” of the Home Minister P. Chidmbaram and added that it was only a “time-pass” committee.

Mr. Reddy reminded that when Jawaharlal Nehru government decided to bifurcate Madras State to form Andhra Pradesh State, it constituted a single-member committee with a Supreme Court judge by giving one month time to submit its report. But the UPA government never tried to constitute such a committee.

Mr. Reddy said that the Congress government in the State has no commitment on reservation for Muslim minority community. The party has only eyed Muslim votes, but has no sincerity in the welfare of the community.
