Foster’s Cup T20

HYDERABAD: The Foster’s Cup inter-club Twenty20 cricket tournament will be held over the weekends at the Secunderabad Club for a month, commencing from February 14.

Secunderabad Club President Keerthi Narasimhachar, Vice-President Raghuram Reddy, Chairman, Games, Vijay Sree Ram and Parag of SAB Miller India addressed a press conference here to announce the event that was into its seventh edition. Eight clubs will be in the fray and the winner will take Rs. 25,000 and the runner-up Rs.15,000. The final will be held on March 14.

Although closely associated with the Australian cricket team, Foster’s had shown social responsibility by auctioning bats of cricket celebrities, to raise funds for victims of Gujarat’s earthquake, said Vikram Mansingh, a driving force of the tournament along with his father P.R. Man Singh, Manager of the 1983 Prudential Cup winning Indian team.

The teams: Celebrity Club, Deccan Club, New Club, Press Club, Nizam Club, Zoroastrian Club, Fateh Maidan Club and Secunderabad Club. — Special Correspondent
