Kancheepuram in semifinals

CHENNAI: Kancheepuram DCA entered the semifinal of the TNCA inter-district (Under-14) tournament on Wednesday by virtue of its first innings lead over Tiruchi DCA in a drawn quarterfinal match.

The scores: Quarterfinal:

Kancheepuram DCA 350 for seven in 90 overs and 127 for six in 40 overs (A. Alwar 33, G. Jagdeesh 27, S. Ajith Samuvel 25, P. Arjun three for 33) drew with Tiruchi DCA 76 in 45.4 overs (B. Jayanth 33, S. Swaminathan three for 12, M. Arunan four for 11, C.R. Siva two for 12) and 103 for six in 25 overs (B. Jayanth 55, S. Bharat three for 32).

Coimbatore starts well

Coimbatore bundled out Kancheepuram for 171 on the opening day of the three-day TNCA under-16 inter-District cricket final at Coimbatore and finished the day at the 74 for two.

The scores:

Kancheepuram 171 in 70.4 overs (K.G. Sanjay 57, Mohammed Imran 43, M. Hari Prasad four for 58) vs. Coimbatore 74 for two in 17 overs (S. Karthik 31 batting).

At Salem (U-19 final):

Kancheepuram 288 for seven in 90 overs (V. Vijay Shankar 84, S. Uday Praveen 68, T. Balaji 55, S. Anandhan three for 87) vs. Salem.

Danush shines

V. Danush Kumar scored 78 as St. Bede’s ‘A’ registered a 59-run win over St. Patrick’s in a quarterfinal match of the TNCA City Schools (under-14) tournament for the B. Somasundaram Trophy here on Wednesday.

Quarterfinals: PSSS 108 in 44 overs (T. Harshavardhan three for 22) lost to Vidya Mandir ‘A’ 112 for one in 30.5 overs (S. Vignesh 54 not out).

Chettinad Vidyashram 93 in 46.3 overs (S. Siddharth 27) lost to PSBB ‘A’ 94 for five in 32.1 overs.

St. Bede’s ‘A’ 241 for eight in 50 overs (V. Danush Kumar 78, R. Raagul 51, M.S. Washington Sundar 47, M. Abhinav Sundar 37) bt St. Patrick’s 182 for five in 50 overs (G.V. Vignesh 32, L. Sathyanarayanan 42, Rameez Raja 35, Sree Vignesh Rao 31).

St. Michael’s 153 in 47.5 overs (K. Mukunth 89, M.S. Sanjai three for 30, K. Ravi Kumar three for 34) lost to Santhome ‘A’ 154 for two in 27.4 overs (C. Karthik 73 not out, Vishal Vaidyha 32, M. Prasanna 28).

Hat-trick by Dilip

Dilip’s hat-trick enabled Loyola College to thrash Sir Theagaraya College 6-0 in a quarterfinal of the CFA-S. Nagalingam Nadar Memorial football tournament at the SDAT-Nehru Park here on Wednesday.

The results: Loyola 6 (Sanjiv 2; Dilip 13, 16, 40; Ranjith 28; Logesh 58) bt Sir Theagaraya 0.

Varadharajan shines

Varadharajan’s four for 23 went in vain as WPC lost to Sathyam Cinemas by 40 runs in a match of the Adclub-Sportstar T20 cricket tournament held here recently.

Henkel 79 in 16.4 overs (Amol 37, Rajesh three for 17) lost to AL Nissan 80 for four in 11 overs.

LOWE Lintas 129 for nine in 20 overs (Sathish 35 n.o., Manish four for 28) lost to Big FM 132 for five in 18.1 overs.

Table tennis ranking tournament

Tiruvallur District Table Tennis Association (TDTTA) will conduct the ranking tournament on February 14 at the D.G. Vaishnav College in men’s, juniors, sub-juniors and men’s veteran’s singles events.

Entries close on February 12 with the Secretary, TDTTA, Mithra Castle, 11A, Kaveri Street, Saligramam, Chennai-93.

Venkatraman-Vijay pair takes trophy

K.R. Venkatraman and D. Vijay duo won the weekly pair event at the T. Nagar Social Club, with a score of 65.71 per cent playing East-West.

Sunil Verghese and Srihari Verghees emerged winner from the North- South direction with a score of 60.74 per cent.
