TDP leaders disappointed

Four crore people insulted: Telengana MPs

Evolve a national policy: Yerran Naidu

HYDERABAD: The much awaited terms of reference of Srikrishna committee has left both Telangana and Andhra/ Rayalaseema leaders of Telugu Desam dissatisfied.

While leaders from Telangana rejected the terms as anti-Telangana and accused the Centre of going back on its December 9 promise of initiating the process of formation of Telangana, their counterparts from other regions were disappointed as there was no mention of other States where there was a similar demand.

Addressing a press conference, senior Telangana MLAs, N. Janardhan Reddy and M. Narasimhulu said the terms have insulted the four crore people of Telangana, their sentiments and 53-year long patience. It was clear that the Centre wants to deceive the people of the region once again as it did in 1969, 1972 and 2004. The Centre should understand that the struggle was for self- respect of the people more than anything else.

They said the future course of action would be decided on attending the budget session of the Assembly and whether to go in for en masse resignations at the political Joint Action Committee meeting on Saturday.

They continued to believe in creating political crisis through resignation of all 119 MLAs of the region to build pressure on Centre for introducing bill on separate Telangana in Parliament.

On the other side, Andhra/Rayalaseema leader, K. Yerran Naidu wondered why the Centre wanted to make the State a laboratory for its experiments of dividing states. The Centre should not single out Andhra Pradesh but include other States where there was similar demand for separate statehood and evolve a national policy. Otherwise it would face problems in Parliament as some of the UPA partners themselves were against the Centre’s decision on Telangana, he said.

Another TDP MP of Rayalaseema region, M.V. Mysoora Reddy felt the terms favoured separate Telangana as there was no mention of evolving a consensus over the issue.
