TIRUCHI: The former chairman of the Tiruchi Municipal Council, M. Balakrishnan of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, passed away on Friday. Mr. Balakrishnan (77) held office as chairman of the erstwhile Municipal Council from 1986 to 1991. He has also held various positions in the party. He passed away at a private hospital in Chennai after prolonged illness. Mr. Balakrishnan is survived by his wife Pitchaimmal, two sons, Bharani Kumar, a former MLA, and Ravi Kumar, and a daughter Vani.
