Tea Board officials raid godowns

Udhagamandalam: The Tea Board officials raided retail outlets and godowns in a number of places in the State on Saturday.

While the raids were coordinated by the Executive Director, Tea Board, R.D. Nazeem, the officials were assisted by the officials of the departments of Health and Food Cell.

Speaking to The Hindu here Mr. Nazeem who headed the raid at Pollachi said that Salem, Tiruchi and Madurai were among the other places where raids were conducted. Pointing out that a large quantity of adulterants and colouring materials were seized, he said that more than eight tons of tea including 4,000 kilograms in Pollachi and 3,500 kilograms in Madurai has been sealed.

Samples have been taken for analysis.
