Jeppiar EC emerges triumphant

Chennai: Jeppiar Engineering College won the CFA-S. Nagalingam Nadar memorial inter-collegiate football tournament after getting the better of Sathyabama University 2-0 in the final here on Saturday. Jose did the star turn for Jeppiar as he scored a goal in the first half and set up another minutes into the second half.

A free kick from his own half of the field made its way to Jose who found himself unmarked and on-side with just the goalkeeper to beat. Jose thumped the ball past the on-rushing custodian to put Jeppiar in the lead in the twelfth minute.

Sathyabama’s Shabeer Ali had the chance to even the scores barely minutes after the first strike but he volleyed over. Four minutes into the second half, Jose took advantage of a high Sathyabama back-line to send Ramu through and the striker obliged.

The results: Final: Jeppiar Engineering 2 (Jose, Ramu) bt Sathyabama 0. Third place: Loyola 5 bt Pachaiyappas’s 4 (0-0 in regulation time).
