PANAJI: The Goa State Industries Association (GSIA), a body representing small and medium enterprises, will hold a seminar, “GOA MSME AGENDA-2010”, aimed at promotion and development of, and providing facilities for exchange of information of interest to MSMEs. Atul Niak, GSIA president, said on Tuesday that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will inaugurate the seminar here on Saturday. The seminar will be attended by H.S. Meena, Joint Development Commissioner, Union Ministry of MSME, S.V.G. Nandagopal, CGM-SIDBI, Sanjit Rodrigues, Goa Industries Director, Anil Bhardwaj, Secretary General, FISME. “The MSME sector is an important sector of the Indian economy contributing over 45 per cent of industrial production and around 40 per cent of the total exports. It is the single largest contributor in the manufacturing sector and the second largest employment provider after the agriculture sector. There are 26 million MSMEs in India providing employment to 60 million people,” said Mr. Naik. The seminar will give an opportunity to all the stakeholders to come on the same platform and help exchange ideas to face the changing needs of competition and enhancing their capabilities. More importantly, it will benchmark MSME sector in Goa vis-À-vis other States.
