Shah Rukh Khan NEW DELHI: Attempting to explain the formula behind Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan's unparalleled success at home and abroad is a special programme that goes on the air on Discovery Channel this Friday. Titled “Revealed: Shah Rukh Khan”, it has leading film-makers, social anthropologists, scholars, film critics and lifestyle experts detailing the virtues that make the Delhi-born actor a mega film star, a consumer-friendly face for brands, an innovative entrepreneur, a non-resident Indian icon and an ideal family man. Film critic Anupama Chopra, advertising and brand expert Prasoon Joshi, social anthropologist Shiv Vishwanathan, media expert Priya Tanna and other known personalities will uncover the secret of SRK's enviable success. The programme details how the actor's insatiable ambition combined with the overall socio-political changes during the past two decades and the country's globalisation path transformed an industry-outsider into an icon of contemporary India. Commenting on the one-hour programme based on his life, Shah Rukh Khan says: “For many years I have enjoyed watching Discovery Channel. I am quite excited that viewers will now watch a programme on my life on this exceptional channel.” Featuring interviews, anecdotes and footage from his movies, the programme will explain how the larger-than-life actor fulfilled his dreams by grabbing every opportunity that crossed his path, however difficult or unexpected those crossings might have seemed. Tom Keaveny of Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific says: “Shah Rukh Khan is a global icon and we are excited to present his phenomenal success story to viewers across the world.” Rahul Johri, also of India Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, says: “Discovery Channel's unique strength is in uncovering the unexplained phenomenon, be it life-changing events, personalities with global influence or unique wonders of our nature. This time it will examine the beginning, growth and impact of one of the biggest success stories of contemporary India -- Shah Rukh Khan.”
