Workshop for iron and steel industry professionals

Conducted on the premises of Salem Steel Plant

SALEM: The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under its Life Long Learning (3L) programme and in association with Steel Authority of India Limited, (SAIL), organised a one-day national workshop for participants on the premises of Salem Steel Plant (SSP) here recently.

Inauguration

Pankaj Gautam, Executive Director, Salem Steel Plant, while inaugurating the workshop, said that professionals from iron and steel and associated industries across the country, particularly from Tamil Nadu, had benefited greatly from this workshop and thanked the Bureau of Energy Efficiency for facilitating the conducting of the workshop at the Salem Steel Plant.

The workshop was attended by over 40 delegates from various industries across the country.

Delegates from SAIL plants such as Bokaro Steel Plant, Bhilai Steel Plant; Jindal Steel Limited, Mecon and associated industries like Godrej & Boyce, RN Agencies, Baldor Electric India, Transparent Energy Systems etc. besides SSP participated.

K.K. Chakravarti, Energy Economist, Ashok Kumar, Advisor Information and Anil Sharma, 3L Manager of BEE facilitated the workshop.

Programme

The 3L programme under Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, provided support to energy professionals engaged in iron and steel and related industries with the objective of disseminating information about energy-efficient technology available in the field to help address the energy management initiatives.

The technical session was focused on several themes including saving of energy through usage of energy efficient equipment, thermography revolution concept etc.
