Technical institute to be set up at Bijjangera village

Raichur: The Navodaya Education Trust of Raichur has chalked out a Rs.70-crore development programme, including the establishment of a separate technical education campus.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, S.R. Reddy, chairman of the trust, said it has been proposed to set up a library and an indoor stadium on its medical college campus at a cost of Rs. 22 crore. A separate campus for technical education has also been planned.

He informed that the trust has decided to establish its technical education campus on a 30-acre land at Bijjangera village near the city at an estimated cost of Rs. 45 crore. To mark the annual day function of the medical college, a four-day cultural programme will begin from February 22. A.R. Aruna, Director of the Department of Medical Education, Bangalore, will inaugurate the programme. K.S. Gopinath, Director of the Institute of Oncology, Bangalore, will be the chief guest.

On second day, S. Ramananda Shetty, Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences will address the gathering. On the third day, V. Anbu Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, and H.U. Talawar, Director of the Department of Technical Education, will participate.

At the valedictory function, a music programme has been organised in which Kadri Gopalnath (saxophone), Suramani Pravin Godkhindi (flute), Rajendra Nakod (tabla), B. Rajashekar (morsing) and S. Harikumar Mrudanga) will perform. A cultural troupe from Alva’s Foundation, Moodbidri, will present a folk dance. M. Mohan Alva, Chairman of the foundation will be present.
