Madikeri: The Codava National Council (CNC) will observe International Mother Tongue Day on the Cauvery College premises at Gonicoppa in Virajpet taluk on Sunday. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Secretary-General of CNC N.U. Nachappa said that political scientist Balveer Arora would address the gathering. The “Kodava National Assembly” would be reconstituted on the occasion. The CNC was fighting for special rights and they were not aimed at resenting any organisation or individuals in the district. “We are fighting for a permanent political solution”, he said justifying the reason for inviting political scientists to the CNC conventions in Kodagu. Mr. Nachappa said that a rally would be held on the Cauvery College Ground at Gonicoppa on March 21 to further the cause of the CNC. The CNC had covered 84 “ain manes” (ancestral homes) of the Kodavas to spread awareness on its struggle, he added. CNC member Chembanda Janat Kumar was present.
