BANGALORE: The travails of the city traffic police continued with a hapless sub-inspector receiving a full blast of pepper spray on his face from an agitated woman driver when he tried to intervene in an incident of road rage. The incident occurred on the Suranjandas Road on Friday night. According to Indiranagar police, Akshata, a software engineer, was driving a car along with her friend Gurudatt. Atal Arun Ming, an engineer with the Gas Turbine Research Establishment, was riding a motorcycle. There was a collision and this resulted in heated exchanges between Akshata and Ming. Akshata then took out the bottle of pepper spray and splashed it on Ming. People started gathering at the spot. Some of them broke the windshield of Akshata’s car. A person then called the Indiranagar traffic police and informed about the incident. Sub-inspector Muthuraju came to spot and tried to cool down tempers when Akshata roughed up Muthuraj and then sprayed pepper on him too. Ming then went to the Indiranagar police and lodged a complaint against Akshata. The Indiranagar police have taken up a case under Section 323 and 324 of the Indian Penal Code. Passports seized
Meanwhile, the Commercial Street police on Friday seized passports and travel documents of the two Iranian women who were arrested on charge of assaulting a traffic police sub-inspector and some reporters in an inebriated state. The two allegedly created a scene on Wednesday night on Cubbon Road when traffic police sub-inspector Ganesh Rao found Azar alias Fazil Khoda, who was driving a car, as having alcohol more than the permissible limit. Farimah alias Youssefirad was with Ms. Khoda in the car. Ms. Khoda is said to have hit and bit Mr. Rao, besides damaging a TV journalist’s camera. The bail application of the two women, residents of RMV Extension, will be heard in 11th ACMM court here on Saturday. The Commercial Street police said they would file objections against the applications. Meanwhile, some reporters have also filed assault cases against the women. According to a Commercial Street Police officer, the city police have informed the Iranian Consulate in Hyderabad about the case and are awaiting its response.
