VISAKHAPATNAM: The Three Town police on Sunday arrested postmaster of the sub-post office at Sector XI of MVP Colony B. Narasimha Prasad and watchman G.Veerraju. The arrest followed investigation into a complaint by the postmaster that theft of Rs.1,11,065 was committed in the post office on December 6 by some persons and records were burnt after tying up the watchman. The probe revealed that the postmaster had allegedly misappropriated Rs.50,89,191 while paying bond amounts to depositors. He had done this since 1988 and to cover it up, he ‘cooked up’ the theft and burning of records in connivance with the watchman. The investigation was carried out under the supervision of DCP (Crime) J. Brahma Reddy by Three Town Circle Inspector P.V. Krishna Varma and sub-inspector (Crime) P.V.V. Narasimha Rao.
