VISAKHAPATNAM: A dharna was organised by Gram Sevaks, under the aegis of AP Gram Sevakula Sangham, at the Collectorate on Monday seeking a solution to their problems. Addressing the gathering, honorary president of the sangham S. Ramesh said that the wage revision agreement reached with Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao on February 5, 2009 was yet to be implemented. He demanded that the State Government, which has revised the wages of all Government employees, should hike the wages of Gram Sevaks and extend the P.R.C. to them. Sangham president B. Narasimhulu demanded that the Gram Sevaks should be categorised as Class IV employees and their wages should be increased to Rs.5,000 a month. General secretary K.V. Satyaranayana demanded immediate filling up of vacant posts.
