Chief Minister calls for quick disposal of atrocity cases

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has directed the officials concerned to speed up disposal of cases registered under the SCs and STs (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Interacting with Social Welfare Department Principal Secretary V. Nagi Reddy and other senior officials here on Monday, Mr. Rosaiah exhorted the Police Department to pay special attention to the cases registered under POA.
The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of cases registered under POA and Protection of Civil Rights Act ahead of the meeting of the State Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee on Wednesday. He said the government had created a special cell headed by a DIG rank officer to speed up investigation into cases registered under POA and PCR Acts. In all, 22 mobile courts headed by Judicial First Class Magistrate were functioning in all districts, while special courts had been established in all the districts for speedy trial.
