Violation of PF rules: HSL management falls in line

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: The management of Hindustan Shipyard Limited refunded the two per cent difference in PF that was deducted from the staff salaries with retrospective effect in violation of rules.

It was learnt that the HSL management had credited the difference amount to the individual accounts of the staff.

It may be recalled that a report on the violation of PF rules by the public sector HSL ‘PF officials launch prosecution against HSL’, was published in these columns on February 13. HSL had recovered the employees’ share of PF contributions for the period from April to September 2008 amounting to Rs.55.51,765 in three equal instalments from their wages payable for the months of October, November and December 2008. Regional PF Commissioner Ajeet Kumar confirmed that intimation was received from HSL on Monday stating that two per cent difference in PF collected was credited to their accounts.
