V.K. Saraswat GUNTUR: Defence scientist and the man behind the successful launch of Agni-III missiles three consecutive times, V. K. Saraswat, will be presented the Dr. Y. Nayudamma Memorial Award for 2009 for his outstanding contribution to India’s defence research and development. Dr. Saraswat is the Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister and Director-General of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Making this announcement on Monday, founder and managing trustee of the Trust P. Vishnu Murthy, said the award, instituted in 1986, is given every year to persons chosen for their significant contributions to the development of science and technology in the country. It will be presented to Dr. Saraswat at Tenali, the native of Dr. Nayudamma, on March 6.
