Congress, Trinamool leaders meet Governor
Raktima Bose
KOLKATA: A joint delegation of leaders of the Trinamool Congress and the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) met Governor M.K. Narayanan here on Monday to apprise him of the “deteriorating law and order situation” in the State and request the Centre’s intervention to restore peace.
It said “all illegal arms should be immediately seized by the Centre to restore peace,” Partha Chatterjee, senior Trinamool leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, told reporters after meeting the Governor.
WBPCC working president Pradip Bhattacharya said: “Does not the attack on the Silda camp in Paschim Medinipur district prove the failure of the State’s intelligence network? Moreover, two senior State government officials are seen contradicting each other and putting the blame for the attack on others rather than working together.”
“…..We have requested the Governor to establish rule of law in the State immediately through the Centre since the State government is unable to do so,” he added.
