HYDERABAD: Speaker N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday night rejected the resignation letters submitted by two Congress MLAs and a Praja Rajyam legislator. According to sources, Congress MLAs -- R. Damodar Reddy and Ch. Muthyam Reddy along with PR legislator A. Maheswar Reddy -- called on the Speaker this evening in the wake of submission of their resignations more than 10 days ago. The three legislators along with 10 TRS and one BJP MLA had submitted their papers. All of them had submitted the resignation letters in prescribed format. The Speaker has the right to reject the resignation if he feels it was not voluntary, or in the circumstances, the legislator appeals that the papers may be rejected. It may be mentioned here that in tune with the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) demand that all the legislators from the region should quit their membership, Mr. Damodar Reddy and Mr. Muthyam Reddy took the initiative to resign. In fact, several Telangana Congress MLAs who first agreed to follow them backed out after the high command sent strong signals that none of them should quit. The two Congress MLAs along with the PR legislator went to New Delhi to impress upon the high command to change the Terms of Reference of Srikrishna Committee and bring down the deadline to six months. However, they reportedly were compelled to change their stand and withdraw their resignations.
