Traffic curbs from noon today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Traffic restrictions will be enforced in the capital city from 12 noon on February 27 in view of Attukal Pongala on Sunday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic South, B. Varghese said restrictions will be enforced for vehicles within three-km radius of Attukal Devi Temple on February 28.

Parking will not be permitted on Sunday on the Killipalam bund road. The Killipalam bund, Chirapalam, Iranimuttom, Chiramukku road has been designated Emergency route-I and Chiramukku, Medamukku, Chenkittavila, Valiyapalli, Kamaleswaram and Maharanikukku road, Emergency route-II. Mr. Varghese said parking and offering of pongala will not be permitted on the emergency routes.

Vehicles from Attakulangara, Maruthurkadavu, Kamaleswaram and West Fort will not be permitted to proceed to Attukal after 11 a.m. on February 27. Traffic has been banned from Attakulangara to Span Hospital, Manacaud, on the day.

After the pongala on Sunday, KSRTC buses will proceed via NH 47, M.C. Road, Nedumangad and Kattakada. KSRTC buses to Thampanoor will take the Vellayambalam, Vazhuthacaud and flyover route. KSRTC city buses from Balaramapuram, Neyattinkara and Poojappura side will commence services from Karamana and Killipalam. KSRTC city and line buses to Vizhinjam and Kovalam will start from Kamaleswaram. Services to All Saint’s College, Medical College, Sreekariyam, Kesavadasapuram, Peroorkada and Vattiyorkavu side will begin at East Fort.
