People’s demand taken up with Ahamed: Kunhalikutty

Kozhikode: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, on Saturday, said he had conveyed the dissatisfaction of the people from Malabar to Minister of State for Railways E. Ahamed on not getting a train to Bangalore from Kozhikode in the Railway budget.

Talking to reporters at the League House here on Saturday, he said it was one of the “genuine and long-standing” demands of the people from the region.

He said Mr. Ahamed assured him that he would look into the issue immediately and “find a solution without delay”.

The League leader, however, maintained that his colleague in the party (E. Ahamed) had done a great deal for the State after assuming charge as the Minister of State for Railways. “He will definitely do better in the coming years,” he said.

Mr. Kunhalikutty, who termed the Union Budget as a “budget with foresight and clear vision”, voiced his concern over the budget proposal to hike the fuel price, which he feared would trigger a price hike, making the life of the common man even harder.

Asked about the absence of any “special package” for Kerala in the budget, Mr. Kunhalikutty said “Kerala unlike other States had not “asked or campaigned” for any special package from the Centre.
