THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has urged the State government to bring to book the persons who had entered the village office at Vattavada in Idukki district on Friday night and destroyed documents that would have served as evidence pointing to land encroachments by ‘certain leaders of the United Democratic Front (UDF).’ In a statement issued here on Saturday, Mr. Vijayan said there were documents dating back a 100 years in the village office. He noted that CPI(M) district secretary M.M. Mani had, at a public meeting in Munnar on Friday, announced that landless people, including those belonging to tribal communities, would enter the encroached land in the possession of certain UDF leaders. He alleged that more than 100 acres of encroached government land in Munnar area was with a top UDF leader. Mr. Vijayan named three top UDF leaders among the encroachers.
