New milestone: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues at the inauguration of the 750-metre-long Langer Houz flyover in Hyderabad on Sunday. HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K.Rosaiah on Sunday asked officials involved with the Outer Ring Road (ORR) project to ensure quality and at the same time complete the 159-km-long stretch encircling the city on time. After launching the works of the Nehru Outer Ring Road Phase-II at APPA junction, he said works on the prestigious project were progressing for completion by December 2012 and that other initiatives were on to find lasting solutions to the increasing traffic needs. Cities that fail to address the needs of a growing population and their increasing spread fail to grow and all efforts were on to ensure that Hyderabad continues to grow with solutions in the form of ORR, Metro Rail project and others. The Chief Minister said that the internal ring roads would connect with the ORR in the form of arterial roads. Flyover openedEarlier, Mr.Rosaiah also inaugurated the 750-metre-long Langar Houz flyover built at a cost of Rs.17 crore with four lane divided carriageway. The works under Nehru ORR Phase-II covering the 33.3 km long stretch from Shamirpet to Pedda Amberpet have been taken up with loan assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with contract packages divided into three civil works. While the Package-1 from Shamirpet to Keesara with construction period of 30 months has been awarded to United Gulf Constructions Co., the 11 km-long Package-2 from Keesara to Ghatkesar and the 12-km-long Package-3 from Ghatkesar to Pedda Amberpet have been awarded to Nagarjuna Construction Company.
