TDP Telangana MLAs finalise representation

Special Correspondent

Meeting chaired by senior party legislator Nagam Janardhan Reddy

HYDERABAD: TDP MLAs from the Telangana region on Sunday are stated to have finalised the representation presenting their demand for a separate State to the Srikrishna Committee.

About 30 of the 38 legislators met at an undisclosed location in Shamirpet, on the outskirts of the city.

Closeted

They were closeted for several hours with experts, who provided inputs pertaining to the region’s historical background and how the ‘continued neglect’ over the decades had left it underdeveloped.

The meeting was chaired by senior legislator Nagam Janardhan Reddy.

It is understood that the MLAs would again meet on March 4 to give final touches to the representation before presenting it to the Srikrishna Committee.

They are believed to have conveyed to the party president N. Chandrababu Naidu their decision to present their views to the committee and got his nod.

While the party MLAs from the Andhra/ Rayalaseema region are gearing up to put forth their argument in favour of a unified State, Mr. Naidu himself is said to be keenly watching the developments in the Congress. It is not yet clear what the party’s official stand will be.
