MADURAI: The 36th All India Electricity Board Kabaddi Tournament will be held at the Dr.M.G.R. Race Course Stadium here between March 2 and 5. It will be the first all India tournament to be hosted by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board in Madurai, according to A. Nachadalingam, Chief Engineer, Distribution, Madurai. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said that 16 teams representing various State Electricity Boards from across the nation will be participating in the event. Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has won many State level and All India level competitions and has also won 12 times in the All India Electricity Board Kabaddi tournament. V. Balachandran, Additional Director General of Police, Vigilance, will be inaugurating the tournament. I. Periasami, Minister for Revenue and Housing, will inaugurate the finals and T.P.M. Mohideen Khan, Minister for Environment, Sports and Youth Welfare, will be distributing the prizes. P. Balasubramanian, Commissioner of Police, Madurai, will be presiding over the prize distribution function. A player who has won the Arjuna award and players at the national level will be participating in the event, said Basheer Ahmed, Senior Sports Officer, TNEB. P. K. Alagarsamy, Superintending Engineer, Madurai Electricity Distribution Division, K.S.Varadarajan, Superintending Engineer, Metro Madurai, and G. Senthil Vel, Sports Officer, TNEB, were present during the meet.
