Traffic diversion in Coimbatore on March 3

COIMBATORE: The city police have announced traffic diversion for March 3, in view of the car festival of Koniamman Temple.

Vehicles coming from Palakkad Road should enter the city through the bypass road along Valankulam or the Perur Bypass Road. Vehicles heading for Palakkad Road from Avanashi Road Flyover should take the Goods Shed Road and those from Lanka Corner should take the Big Bazaar Street and then all these vehicles should go on Vincent Road.

A press release from the police said on Monday that buses alone would be allowed to pass through Town Hall to reach Ukkadam. But, buses would be allowed on Vysial Street and Oppanakara Street. Of the vehicles that would take Thadagam Road and Mettupalayam Road from Avanashi Road Flyover, lorries and mini lorries would not be allowed on to pass through Sukrawarpet. Instead, these could take Brooke Bond Road. Vehicles from Mettupalayam Road could take Brooke Bond Road and the flyover to reach their destinations.

Vehicles bound for Palakkad Road from Thadagam Road should take the following route: Ponnaiahrajapuram, Chokkampudur, Ramamurthy Road, Shivalaya Theatre, Perur Bypass Road and Ukkadam.

Route for vehicles from Perur to city: Perur Bypass Road and Ukkadam or Shivalaya Theatre, Ramamurthy Road, Chokkampudur, Ponnaiahrajapuram and Gandhipark.

As per the existing rules, lorries would not be allowed into the city from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Parking of two-wheelers and four-wheelers would not be allowed on Raja Street, Oppanakara Street, Vysial Street and Karuppana Gounder Street as the temple car would be drawn through these thoroughfares.
