Motor transport strike today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Motor transport workers in the public and private sectors, taxi and autorickshaw drivers and those operating public carriages of different kinds are going on strike from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday to protest against the hike in excise duty on petrol and diesel. The CPI(M), CPI, BJP and various other parties and trade unions such as the CITU and INTUC have come out in support of the strike . — Special Correspondent
