GUNTUR: A group of persons which robbed a former municipal chairman at knife point and made away with cash and gold rings in November, 2009, was arrested by the Guntur Crime Police. Narrating the sequence of events that led to their arrest, Town DSP D. Koteswara Rao told media persons that eight persons were involved in the incident that took place on November 5, 2009. The DSP said that the plot was unravelled after the main accused, Ravuri Yesudanam (20), who had worker under Pasupuleti Gopaiah, an iron merchant, confessed to his involvement in the case. The accused has borne a grudge against Gopaiah after he was sacked from job and plotted revenge against him. He allegedly gathered his friends, D. Nirmala Rao, Sk. Dawood Basha, V. Harikrishna, A. Shankar, Sk. Salam, P. Dileep Kumar and Sk. Saida and kidnapped Gopaiah on November 5. They took him to an isolated place near Nallapadu and made away with Rs.34,000, two gold rings. “We looked into all angles including family rivalry of the complainant. But we finally zeroed on the suspects,'' said the DSP. The DSP complimented the East CI Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, CCS CI C. Vijay Bhaskara Rao, Lalapet Crime SI Govindarajulu and other constables who have cracked the case.
