AISF demands judicial probe

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The All India Students Federation (AISF) on Wednesday demanded a judicial inquiry into the police action against the students of Annamalai University.

Three students were drowned in a canal when they tried to escape lathicharge by the police. The university witnessed violence after students went on the rampage, protesting the death of a student due to the alleged negligence of doctors of the university. In a statement here, M. Venkatraman, the state secretary of the federation, said the government should also take action against the police officials responsible for the lathicharge.
