TEMPLE FESTIVAL:Bullock Cart race under way at Melamaruthoor near Tuticorin on Friday. Tuticorin: A bullock cart race was conducted by the Coastal Energen Private Limited at Melamarudur in Ottapidaram taluk on Friday. It was conducted as part of Karuppasamy Temple festival celebrations. Six pairs of bulls competed in the 16-km race from Melamarudur to Vedanatham. Besides, 15 pairs of bulls competed in a 10-km race. G. Selvaraj, advisor to Coastal Energen Private Limited , flagged off the competition. N. Periyasami, Committee Member, Tuticorin Port Trust, who presided over, presented cash prizes to winners. Raja Vimala Kumar, Community Development Officer and S. Chitravel, Public Relations Officer, were present.
