Satish Shetty murder: one more arrested

Siddhesh Inamdar

PUNE: Shyam Dabhade, an accused in the murder of Right to Information (RTI) crusader Satish Shetty, was taken into custody by the Ahmednagar police on Friday.

Investigating officer Dilip Shinde told The Hindu: “Shyam Dabhade is in the custody of the Ahmednagar [one of Pune's neighbouring districts] police. We will get him transferred to Pune soon. We suspect a connection between him and Vijay Dabhade [already in custody].”

Apart from Vijay Dabhade, Navnath Shelar, Dongrya Rathod, Pramod Waghmore and Parshuram Telugu are in judicial custody. As the police were not able to produce evidence against them, they were earlier shifted from police custody to judicial custody.

Mr. Shetty's younger brother, Sandeep, said, “The police are saying they have some concrete evidences against the five. But they can't reveal anything till the charges are filed. Meanwhile, we will be filing an affidavit in the High Court, asking for the case to be transferred to the CBI [Central Bureau of Investigation].”

Satish Shetty was murdered on February 13 when he was on a morning walk near his house in Talegaon, about 50 km from here.
