Minister inaugurates new building of ITI Revamping of colleges too on the cards GUNTUR: Buildings for polytechnic and ITI colleges in the State would be built at an estimated cost of Rs.278 crores, Minister for Technical Education Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao said on Sunday while inaugurating a new building of the ITI on the Collectorate Road here. The Minister said that Rs.148 crores would be spent on building polytechnic colleges and Rs.130 crores for ITIs all over the State to give an impetus to technical education, as a majority of students were opting only for engineering and related courses. Depending on the availability of land, construction activity would be taken up in phases, he explained. Revamping of all polytechnics and ITIs by investing between Rs.3 crores and Rs. 4 crores and Rs.2.5 crores for ITIs would be taken up to meet the increasing demand for technically skilled personnel at all levels in the industrially developing State, he observed. Basic amenities, new equipment and instruments for instruction would be purchased with this money, Mr. Venkata Ramana said. District Collector B. Ramanjaneyulu, Minister for Heavy Industries Kanna Lakshmi Narayana and others were present.
