“TN must nominate member to Mullaperiyar panel”

Special Correspondent

TIRUCHI: The River Protection Federation, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, has urged the Tamil Nadu Government to nominate its member to the five-member committee headed by former Supreme Court Chief Justice A.S. Anand constituted by the Supreme Court on the Mullaperiyar dam issue recently.

A resolution in this regard was passed at the State executive committee meeting of the federation held here on Friday under the chairmanship of A. Thamizhagan, advocate and State convenor of the federation.

The federation pointed out that refusal to nominate a member in the committee would affect Tamil Nadu's prospects.

Another resolution has urged the Centre to withdraw the increase in prices petrol and diesel.

The meeting requested the State Government to remove the encroachments on water sources and also ban sale of water.
