Ghaziabad Nigam move to keep Hindon clean
Staff Reporter
GHAZIABAD: In an attempt to keep the Hindon river clean, the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam has introduced a temple waste disposal system which it claims is the first of its kind in the country.
Waste material from temples, including offerings, have been identified as major pollutants in the river and the new initiative aims at preventing people from polluting the river while at the same time not offending their religious sentiments.
Specially designed vehicles sporting a red and yellow livery will ply the streets to collect the waste and they can also be called on demand by temple authorities. According to officials, this will save people time as well as money on fuel in addition to protecting the river.
This is part of several other initiatives launched by the Nigam to protect the Hindon.
