Students protest DTU's new status

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Some students of the erstwhile Delhi College of Engineering demonstrated at Jantar Mantar here on Monday protesting against its conversion to Delhi Technological University.

In a memorandum to AICC secretary Meenakshi Natarajan, they said many new engineering courses were started at DCE and Delhi University had not delayed introduction or revision of courses.

The students also condemned the suspension of certain students involved in the protest. They demanded that the disciplinary action taken against the students be revoked.

If DCE could not be brought under the control of Delhi University it should be converted into a National Institute of Technology or an IIT retaining its Central character, they said.
