NEW DELHI: To mark the 45th anniversary of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated a rare exhibition of Russian art of the 19th and 20th Centuries here on Friday. Titled “Russian Winter”, the exhibition coinciding with the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's visit to the country has been mounted for the first time by the Russian Museum, St. Petersburg. It consists of rare collection of 33 works of art based on the Russian wintry weather. Described as a sample of the “rich art and culture of Russia”, the exhibition is aimed at inspiring the Indian people to explore the rich heritage of Russia. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Dikshit said Russia was a vast country with a rich treasure of art and culture. “The exhibition will go a long way in cementing bonds of friendship between the two countries.” Russian Museum Deputy Director Evgenia Petrova, who is a noted art scholar, is the curator of the exhibition. RCSC Director F. A. Rozovskiy was also present on the occasion. The exhibition is open up to April 4.
