Up against prices:Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra and party MLAs holding a protest march in the Capital on Monday. NEW DELHI: Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly V. K. Malhotra hurt himself slightly when he fell off a bicycle while leading a protest rally over rising prices to the Delhi Assembly on the first day of the Budget Session on Monday. The BJP had organised the protest rally as part of its strategy to target the Delhi Government on the issue both within and outside the House. The bicycle rally started at the Tis Hazari Courts complex and ended at the Delhi Assembly. The MLAs later took part in the proceedings of the House, where they wore vest-like posters with slogans and raised slogans to again highlight the issue of price rise. It was near the main entry gate of the Delhi Assembly that Prof. Malhotra suffered the fall and injured himself. But that did not deter him from participating in the proceedings and also leading a protest march within the Assembly premises. Earlier, addressing the party MLAs and a large number of lawyers at the Tis Hazari Courts complex, Prof. Malhotra charged that the Delhi Government and the the Centre had failed miserably in putting a check on rising prices. Moreover, he said, the hike in petrol and diesel prices in the Union Budget had only added to the misery of the people. Accusing the Congress regimes of disturbing the household budgets, Prof. Malhotra said the BJP would force the Delhi Government to have a discussion on the issue in the Assembly. He said a notice for a call-attention motion had also been given by the party to the Assembly Secretariat.
