Sankara Nethralaya activities hailed

CHENNAI: The outreach activities of Sankara Nethralaya were hailed by officials of Indian Bank at a function in the hospital here on Monday.

The bank donated Rs.1 crore to Sankara Nethralya for revamping infrastructure and introducing new services. Chairman and Managing Director of Indian bank M.S. Sundara Rajan handed over the cheque and appreciated the hospital for its initiatives, particularly those to serve the rural masses. He unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion. The donation is part of the bank's corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Thanking the bank, Chairman Emeritus of Sankara Nethralaya, S.S.Badrinath, said “It means a lot to us, as every rupee is channelled towards the well being of the needy.” He added that the hospital has been constantly supported by people from varied backgrounds who are united by their social commitment. “We are grateful to all our donors who propel our mission of serving the poor and reaching out to people who do not have access to medical facilities.”

The donation will go towards supporting the services of the Consultation Block. Glaucoma and neurophthalmology departments and glaucoma diagnostic services will receive the amount to enhance their infrastructure and install new equipment. The Hospital Chairman V. Vaidyanathan spoke.
