Rs.152-crore ANU budget approved with deficit

GUNTUR: A special Executive Council meeting of Acharya Nagarjuna University organised at Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) in Hyderabad ratified a Rs.152-core budget for 2010-11 financial year with a Rs.4.32 lakh deficit on Saturday.

Attended by Principal Secretary Higher Education C.R. Biswal and Collegiate Education Adhar Sinha, the meeting also approved the staff pattern for the coming academic year, which would allow the university to recruit faculty members on contractual basis for large a large number of vacancies in Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy Colleges (to be set up) and the regular departments of the University Campus College.

As a mark of respect for the women and to celebrate the Centenary of Women's Day, the university will give away cash prizes to all girl students topping in their respective departments academically. Building meant for University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences will be christened G.S. Raju Bhavan after the Rs.1 crore donor Siris Raju, the chairman of Siris Industries of Vijayawada.
