Lending a ear:Chief Minister K. Rosaiah and PCC president D. Srinivas at a meeting organised by APCC on reservation for Muslims, in Hyderabad on Saturday. HYDERABAD: Reiterating State government's commitment to providing four per cent quota for Muslims in employment and education, Chief Minister K. Rosaiah said best of legal experts would be hired to fight the case in Supreme Court. “We are committed to providing quota for Muslims at any cost. This is evident from the fact that we have hired top lawyer, K. Parasaran, to fight the case on behalf of Andhra Pradesh government,” Mr. Rosaiah said at a meeting of Muslims organised by the AP Congress Committee on Saturday. He maintained that the Congress government had not provided quota for Muslims eyeing the votes, but it was the commitment to uplift the community. He took a dig at some political parties, which were trying to sympathise with the Muslims and shedding crocodile tears over the striking down of quota. He exuded confidence that the government would successfully get back the quota for the community. APCC president D. Srinivas recalled that it was the Congress party that had promised quota for the Muslims and implemented it when it rode back to powering 2004. Stating that despite the setback, the government would not go back on its word, the APCC president said he along with the Chief Minister, would not hesitate to approach the UPA government seeking legislation in the Parliament to provide quota for the Muslims. Former Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir lamented the differential treatment to the Muslims and the Hindus, who were small-time traders and businessmen. Minority Welfare Minister Mohd. Ahmedullah, Health Minister Danam Nagender, Advisor to government, public affairs, K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, MP M.A. Khan, legislators – Marri Sashidhar Reddy, Peer Shabbir Ali, Mastan Vali and Shahjahan and former Minister Mohd. Fareeduddin were present.
