COIMBATORE: Indian Army has called for applications for the post of junior commissioned officers as religious teachers. A release stated that male candidates in Tamil Nadu were eligible to apply for pandit/granthi/moulvi posts provided they were between 27 and 34 years as on October 18, 2010. For remustered candidates it was 25 and 34 years. The aspirants should weigh a minimum of 50 kg, enjoy a height of 160 cm and have a chest of 77 cm with .5 cm on expansion. Those applying for pandit posts should be graduates in any discipline with ‘Madhyama' in Sanskrit or ‘Bhushan' in Hindi or equivalent standard in regional language concerned. Those who had passed B.A. with Sanskrit/Hindi as one of the electives but had not done ‘Madhyama' or ‘Bhushan' were also eligible. Applicants for granthi posts should be graduates and possess a ‘Vidwan' in Punjabi. Those who had passed B.A. with Punjabi as one of the electives but had not done ‘Vidwan' were also eligible. Maulvi post aspirants should be graduates, be qualified as Maulvi ALIM in Arabic, Adiv ALIM in Urdu or equivalent standard in the regional language concerned. Those who had B.A. with Arabic/Urdu as one of the electives but had not done Maulvi ALIM in Arabic or Adiv ALIM in Urdu were also eligible to apply. Written exam Written examination would be conducted at the headquarters of the RTG Zone, Chennai, on June 27, 2010 at 9 a.m. The last date for applying is May 1 and the applications should be sent to either HQ RTG Zone, Fort St. George, Chennai 09 or Army Recruiting Office, Trichy.
