SSC exams from today

Special Correspondent

Hyderabad: Nearly 14 lakh students are appearing for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations starting from Monday in about 6,000 centres across the State. Examinations would be held from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Director of Government Examinations Pronoti Suhasini said that students should reach the examination centres by 8.45 a.m. and candidates would be allowed into the examination hall by 9 a.m. Students wearing school uniforms will not be allowed into examination hall.

She said candidates should not write their names, initials or other marks of identification or slogans on the answer scripts. Such activities would be treated as malpractice, she said.

From this year bar coding is being introduced to all the subjects. Last year it was introduced for social science paper as a pilot project. This year photocopies of first language and second language papers would be given if students request so.

Another new feature will be the grading system being introduced from this year. Instead of first class, second class and third class students would get A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, D2 and E grades depending on their marks. Those who get E grade will be treated as failed.

All the students writing the examinations will be given memorandum of marks that will contain marks as well as grades.

A control room has been established at Hyderabad to assist students in case of problems and officials can be reached on 98499-09176, 98499-01361, 98499-01360, 98660-19544, 91770-02456 and 040-23237343.
