Easy for Customs

Sports Reporter

CHENNAI: A brace each by D. Kumar and M. Ramesh featured in Chennai Customs' 5-0 hammering of Central Excise in the St. Joseph's-CFA senior division football league here on Sunday.

Taking lead

M. David put Customs ahead in the 33rd minute when he latched on to the rebound after D. Kumar's shot came off the cross bar, and slotted home.

Kumar made it 2-0 in the 46th minute when he volleyed a David cross into the right corner of the net.

D. Kumar was in action again in the 58th minute, swooping down on Jai Kumar's pass and firing in from close range.

Soon after, in the 67th minute, Nirmal Kumar threaded an assist to Ramesh, who found the mark with a low header, making it 4-0.

The final goal came off a gorgeous Williams' throughball that enabled Ramesh to ease the ball past the 'keeper for his second goal of the match.

Meanwhile, in the first division, a double strike by Mohammed Illias was the cornerstone of RPF's 3-1 defeat of HVF.
