EXEMPLARY:TNPL officials handing over the public convenience facility to Nadunanaparappu villagers in Karur district.

KARUR: The Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) undertook three infrastructure development works in villages surrounding its Kagithapuram paper mill in Karur district and dedicated them to Punjai Pugalur Town Panchayat and Punnam panchayat areas. The works were carried out under the TNPL's corporate social responsibility activities. The works were completed at a total cost of Rs. 7.93 lakh.

The works included construction of dhobhi khana at Pazhamapuram village in Punnam village panchayat area that was completed at a cost of Rs. 1.52 lakh, a public convenience at Nadunanaparappu village in Punjai Pugalur Town Panchayat area that was constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.6 lakh and a compound wall to the Veterinary dispensary at Velayuthampalayam in Punjai Pugalur Town Panchayat that was constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.81 lakh.

These works were taken up and executed with funds made available during 2009-2010 as part of TNPL's Corporate Social Responsibility activities, according to TNPL General Manager (Operations) R. Mani.

Mr. Mani handed over documents and keys to the dhobi khana to the Punnam Panchayat president A. Devaraj while the General Manager (Human Resources) T. Francis Devotta handed over documents and keys to the public convenience to the chairperson of the Punjai Pugalur Town Panchayat Kalyanai Saminathan at a function held at the village recently.

Officials from the Department of Animal Husbandry received the documents relating to the construction of the compound wall for the Velayuthampalayam veterinary dispensary from TNPL officials.

Several officials and public were present.
