Pandemonium in House over Muslim quota
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The issue of providing four p.c. reservation to economically backward sections of Muslims led to disruption of the proceedings of the Assembly once again on Tuesday. It led to a slanging match between the Congress and Telugu Desam. Speaker N. Kiran Kumar Reddy allowed a short discussion on the issue following insistence of MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi. TDP member P. Srinivas Reddy, who initiated the debate, criticised the Congress for “betraying” minorities. Reacting strongly, Congress member Mastan Vali said the minorities were not prepared to believe in the TDP which aligned with the ‘communal parties'. Heated arguments ensued and a remark against Mr. Naidu by the Congress members, aggravated the situation. Ruckus subsided only after Chief Minister K. Rosaiah said he was prepared to tender apologies if such remark was made. Speaking later, Mr. Owaisi recalled that panel constituted earlier ensured that some sections of Muslims were enlisted under BCs and the inclusion was not challenged in the courts.
